Marketing Specialist I/II
SALARY RANGE: $37,620 to $42,780

The Missouri Department of Agriculture, Agriculture Business Development Division, has a full-time position located in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Job Description:
This is professional work assisting Missouri businesses in the promotion and marketing of agricultural-related products and services to international customers and governments.

An employee in this position will be responsible for researching, evaluating and providing interested Missouri agricultural-related businesses with information on domestic and international trade opportunities, potential markets and customers. Provide export counseling at seminars, and on-site assistance to Missouri businesses interested in initiating or expanding sales.
This position requires a working knowledge of agriculture, specifically of the value-added food and beverage industry, and the principles and practices of marketing and international trade. Knowledge of changes in import requirements, working knowledge of the economic, political, social, geographic and cultural factors of countries that affect the potential marketing of Missouri products and services, working knowledge of Missouri's food and beverage industry, working knowledge of transportation, price quotations, duty requirements and product clearance. Possess a working knowledge of computers and ability to professional write and type correspondence, export documents and reports.
Job duties will include but are not limited to: preparing marketing research, ability and willingness to travel overseas; ability and willingness to travel at least 30% of work time; ability to facilitate and accompany (drive in a state car or van) international buyers or government officials to Missouri farms and agribusinesses; ability and willingness to initiate, organize, manage and or participate in international trade shows, trade missions, promotional campaigns or related activities designed to cultivate and develop trade opportunities; ability and willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, businesses, trade officials and associations, federal agencies, foreign customers and governments.
This position requires a flexible work schedule (weekend and evening time may be required with time taken off prior to working).
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in Marketing, International Business, Agribusiness or a closely related field. Preferred experience in the following: knowledge of value added food production and processing; basic understanding of domestic and international trade requirements and regulations and experience and knowledge working with Missouri Agribusinesses.
